A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city, on Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
This earthquake was one of many aftershocks following a strong 7.7-magnitude earthquake on Friday. The earlier earthquake caused many buildings to collapse and serious damage to roads and other structures.
So far, more than 1,600 people have died, and over 3,400 are missing. These numbers may increase as rescue teams continue searching for survivors.
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၏ ဒုတိယမြို့ကြီး မန္တလေးအနီးတွင် တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့တွင် အင်အား 5.1 မဂ္ဂနီကျုဒ်ရှိသည့် ငလျင်တစ်ခု လှုပ်ရှားခဲ့သည်ဟု အမေရိကန် ဂျီယောလော်ဂျီကယ် ဆာဗေး (USGS) မှထုတ်ပြန်သည်။
ဤငလျင်သည် သောကြာနေ့ကဖြစ်ပွားခဲ့သည့် 7.7 မဂ္ဂနီကျုဒ်ရှိသည့် ပြင်းအားကြီးသော ငလျင်အပြီး ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာသည့် ပြန်လှုပ်မှုများထဲမှ တစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ ထိုငလျင်ကြောင့် အဆောက်အအုံများ များစွာပြိုကျပြီး infrastructure များ အကြီးအကျယ် ပျက်စီးဆုံးရှုံးမှုများ ဖြစ်ပွားခဲ့သည်။
လက်ရှိအချိန်ထိ သေဆုံးသူအရေအတွက်သည် 1,600 ကျော်ထိ မြှင့်တက်လာပြီး ပျောက်ဆုံးသူ 3,400 ကျော် ရှိကြောင်း သတင်းရရှိသည်။ ရှာဖွေရေးကယ်ဆယ်ရေး လုပ်ငန်းများ ဆက်လက်လှုပ်ရှားနေသဖြင့် ထိုအရေအတွက်များသည် နောက်ထပ် တိုးမြှင့်လာနိုင်သည်။
